Upon request from a ReWater customer, we will provide that customer with a Code Compliance form that takes your inspector through the entire California greywater irrigation code, Chapter 16 of the California Plumbing Code (formerly Appendix G) , showing them how your home and the ReWater® system meet every code criteria for a permit.  To complete that form, we will first need your site plan, showing the building in relation to the property lines, your soil report, and an approximated drawing of the future greywater-irrigated area.  If your home meets the code criteria, you should be able to get a permit anywhere in California. 

Because California's greywater code is very conservative and kind of difficult to navigate if you haven't personally gone through the permit process before, many people have found our Code Compliance form to be a huge help in obtaining a permit.  ReWater worked a total of over 7 years during three different legislative processes with the California Department of Water Resources and Department of Health Services and numerous local agencies, environmental groups, and other water recycling businesses to write the state greywater code.  Our Code Compliance form has helped many people obtain permits in other states too.  If you’re looking for a legal system to increase the value and the resale value of your home, you will need a permit in most states, and ReWater’s code compliance form certainly makes the process easier.

A special note for people in Arizona:  Single-family homes producing less than 400 gallons of greywater per day do not need a permit for a greywater irrigation system unless some local jurisdiction has passed a more restrictive ordinance.  Multi-family, Commercial, and institutional systems do require a permit.  Read the Arizona code here.
